Lesson 2 of 21Biometric Consent
Before you enroll your face, fingerprint, or palm vein on your Ora FacePass device, we need your consent to collect and store your biometric data.
Why this consent is needed?
Biometric data is treated as sensitive personal information under privacy laws in Illinois, Texas, Washington, California, and other stats. These laws require us to give you a clear notice of what we collect and why, and to obtain your affirmative consent, before any biometric data is captured.
How is my biometric collected?
When you enroll a biometric credential, your face, fingerprint or palm vein is converted into an encrypted mathematical template stored only locally on the device. No images are captured or kept. Your biometric data is used solely to verify your identity at the lock - never sold, never shared for advertising. You can delete your enrolled biometrics at any time from the mobile app or directly on the device.
Each user must provide their own consent. Parents can consent on behalf of their children who must be over 13 years old.
If you add a family member, roommate, guest, or any other user to your Ora FacePass device, that person must individually consent before they can enroll their biometric data on the device. You cannot consent on behalf of another adult. When you add someone in the mobile app, they will receive an email with a link to provide their own consent.

Your enrolled biometric data is only stored locally and encrypted on the device, never being uploaded to the internet or stored on cloud.
